Playtest Atlascatalogue

An independent overview of Steam playtests

Playtest library

Find a game with a recorded Steam playtest by title, genre or description. Every entry leads to a detail that says what we actually know about access.

A catalogue entry is not confirmed access. Access depends on each test's settings and capacity on Steam, not on this overview. How to get into a playtest

From the shelf to Steam in three steps

    1. Find a game

Search by title, description or a combination of genres. The catalogue also includes games whose Steam page is available in English only.

    2. Open Steam

The detail page offers the description and genres from Steam data. The On Steam button leads to the game's public page, where any playtest signup also lives.

    3. Request access

The developer allocates playtest access. Sometimes one click is enough, sometimes you wait for approval. We guarantee neither acceptance nor immediate entry.

    Two signup modes

Steam Playtest lets a developer choose open or limited signup. These are not two kinds of game, but two ways of allocating access.

    Open signup
After you request access on the game page, Steam grants it automatically. You can play once the developer makes the test available; they may also pause or end it.
    Limited signup
A request puts you among interested players. The developer decides how many players and when to accept; Steam picks them at random from the signed-up group, possibly with restrictions by country. Acceptance is not certain and it is not necessarily a manual approval of each person.

The “Request access” button alone does not reliably reveal the test mode. That is why we do not promise immediate entry for individual games. Besides public signup, a developer may also hand out access using keys.

Support is entirely optional. A contribution does not affect acceptance into any playtest and is not a payment for access to a game.
