Cookies and measurement

Traffic measurement is voluntary and off by default. Until you give consent yourself, the site sets no analytics cookie and sends no request to the measurement server. This page describes what changes after consent, how to withdraw the choice and what happens when game previews load.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a site can store in your browser. They are used for login, traffic measurement or advertising. This site uses technical cookies to store your measurement choice and a record of its withdrawal and — only after your consent — traffic measurement cookies. It does not use advertising or marketing cookies.

Language preference and country lookup

The site exists in Czech and in English. The language you pick is stored only in the essential preference cookie pa_language (180 days), and only when you switch the language manually — loading a page never writes it, so browsing alone leaves no language marker. The cookie only remembers your own choice, which is why it does not depend on consent; deleting it in your browser is enough to reset the choice.

On the home page, without a stored choice, a local lookup using DB-IP Lite selects Czech for Czechia and Slovakia and English for other countries. If the lookup is unavailable, your browser's primary language decides (Czech or Slovak: Czech; otherwise: English). No third-party service receives your IP address for this lookup. The result only selects the default language, is not stored, and is not connected to traffic measurement. Direct English links remain English.

Cookie settings

Analytics cookies are not active and measurement does not run until you give consent. Open the choice with the button below. The dialog shows the actual state stored in your browser and offers Allow measurement, or Decline and delete. You can change or withdraw the choice at any time; withdrawal deletes the measurement cookies and stops further measurement.

What is measured after consent

Measurement runs on a Matomo instance on the operator's own server (a same-origin path /analytics/), not at a third party. After consent a page view is recorded: the address visited without parameters in the address and without the anchor. The referrer address is not sent, so no e-mail or other data from a link gets into the measurement. Measurement serves only a rough overview of catalogue traffic — not advertising, profiling or linking to a specific person.

Cookie overview

CookiePurposeStorage
pa_matomo_consenttechnical cookie holding your choice (allowed / declined) — without it the choice would be lost after a page reload 180 days, renewed only by a new choice, not by loading the page
pa_languageessential preference cookie with your chosen site language (cs / en); written only by a manual switch, never on page load 180 days, not extended by loading pages
_pk_id…distinguishing a returning visit in measurement approximately 30 days, only after consent
_pk_ses…the course of one visit in measurement 30 minutes, only after consent
mtm_consent_removedrecord of a withdrawn consent, so that measurement does not switch itself back onat most until the end of the original refusal (max 180 days); reloading the page does not extend it

Measurement cookie names contain the site number and a hash of the domain, which is why they are shown with an ellipsis in the table. The site sets no marketing or advertising cookies and does not use Google Analytics or any other third-party measurement.

Withdrawing consent

You can withdraw consent at any time in the measurement settings. Withdrawal deletes the measurement cookies _pk_*, stops further sending and leaves only the withdrawal record so that measurement does not switch itself back on. Deleting cookies in your browser has the same effect — the site will then ask again.

Technical conditions of measurement

Measurement is designed as follows: it runs on the operator's own VPS, not in a third-party cloud; IP addresses are to be anonymised and raw data is to be kept for 90 days. These parameters are not deployed or verified yet, so we do not present them here as a commitment or as a confirmed retention period. Once the configuration is confirmed, we will add the verified values here.

Requests to third-party servers

Game previews load from the public Steam CDN, that is from a third party — Valve. Your browser asks Valve directly and Valve may see the IP address and basic request details; its own data protection policy applies. This transfer is unrelated to traffic measurement and happens even without consent. Anyone who does not want even this transfer can block images from the Steam CDN in their browser; the catalogue stays readable.

How to check or delete cookies

You will find stored cookies and how to delete them in your browser settings, usually in the Privacy section. Blocking third-party cookies also prevents storage from other domains.
